Oldham County History Center Field Trips

We offer a variety of field trips catered to specific needs. Activities on our history center campus, include the Mount Parlor Exhibit and the Underground Railroad, our local history hands-on museum and root cellar. We do investigations at the Historic African American Cemetery and conduct Hidden History walking tours of LaGrange (founded 1828). We have several interpreters that can be requested as a part of our field trips:  Delia Webster: Underground Railroad Conductor, Abraham Lincoln portrayed by Larry Elliott and Civil War Soldier Robert Bell.

We typically tailor our program to fit the school standards and STEM objectives as identified by the teachers who are bringing their classes.  Large groups are divided into smaller, manageable sizes for hands-on activities and presentations.  Usually we will have 6 rotating stations with one large group event such as a visit by one of our re-enactors.

Our collections and areas of emphasis include WWII, Ky. Social Reform, Oldham County Agriculture, Native American, Enslavement, the Civil War and Underground Railroad, Revolutionary War, Change Over Time in a Small Town and Colonial Oldham County and the Heirloom Garden.

We usually charge $5 per student for a field trip to the Oldham County History Center.  We are handicapped accessible, indoor bathrooms and a large indoor and outdoor area that accommodates various size groups. With programming, most schools spend 4 hours with us. We only offer school field trips Wednesdays through Fridays.
