Field Trips

We offer hands-on history programs for school groups with the following themes:

 

Antebellum Life, Slavery and the Civil War
Activities: Daily life (root cellar, colonial fireplace, garden), archaeology (African American Cemetery), UGRR, resistance and slavery (social media and transportation: the printing press, railroad, steamboats, African American soldiers)

 

Hidden History Walking Tour “Kids Edition”
Tour historic Main Street in LaGrange and discover the hidden history of our community. This program can be adjusted to focus on the age and learning level of your students. Great for Homeschool families!

The Oldham County History Center offers pre-scheduled tours in the following themes:

 

The Underground Railroad
Includes tour of the Mount Parlor and possible cemetery walk depending on accessibility

 

Freemasonry
Includes visit to the Rob Morris Historic House and burial site at Valley of Rest Cemetery

 

Walking Tour
Hidden History of LaGrange on Historic Main Street in LaGrange

 

Cemetery Walks
Visits to unique cemeteries with stories about war heroes, murder cases, enslavement and people of notability from Oldham County
