The Oldham County History Center presented this year’s J.C. Barnett Champion of Oldham County History Award to the Peyton Samuel Head Family Trust. According to Kevin Eldridge, Chairperson of the Oldham County History Center Board of Directors, “The  Peyton Samuel Head Family Trust has been the Number 1 supporter of the Oldham County History Center. The Trust has supported the renovation of the Rob Morris Chapel Education Building, the History Hounds Preschool Program, the Living Treasures and Veterans Oral History Project, the annual upkeep and maintenance of the four 19th Century buildings on the Oldham County History Center campus, the $2 million renovation of the Oldham County History Center that serves as a public park and event center for the community and much more!”

This year’s award was an oil painting by local award-winning artist Mike Prather. Mike painted a portrait of the Peyton Samuel Head Family Trust members sitting at their table during the gala held at the Windy Meadows Event Center, owned by Ellie and Randy Troutman, which was held on July 19, 2023. This year’s gala raised $52,000 to support the History Center’s efforts.
