2023 Morris Mount Roberts Summer Internship

at the Oldham County History Center

The Oldham County History Center is seeking a 2023 Summer Intern. The paid position will begin May 17 and end on August 24, 2023.

Responsibilities includes guiding walking tours, assisting with public programs including archaeology and family programs, operation of gift shop and admission desk, assisting guests with archival research, helping with social media, and other duties as assigned by museum staff.

This internship provides hands-on experience in a variety of areas to help you build your future as a student, or for those who have had a lifelong interest in history and want to help fulfill the mission of the Oldham County History Center.

This is a paid internship that requires the following:  Working hours are Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., May 17 through August 23. This internship will pay $20 per hour. There will be a few additional hours needed for work on specific programs that will be discussed at the interview.

Our mission is to preserve, collect, and convey the history of Oldham County by telling the stories of its people and the events that shaped its development, using the objects and artifacts that illustrate and symbolize that history.

We provide an environment in which the life of the past is experienced in the present. Through exhibits, programs, events and activities, the History Center engages people in a dynamic process of thought, participation, and action. It strives to affirm the importance of individual and collective community memory to develop a more enlightened society.
